Introducing PRINTD //

By | Our Projects, Services, Studio | No Comments

Since opening our studio in 2008, we have learned a lot. Out of the simple necessity of having to create solutions across a wide range of crafts and disciplines, we have grown into something of a knowledge hub for how to create and print a wide range of products and accessories.

Back in 2010 we opened a company called Church of Merch. It operated under the same roof as POV, and our clients often asked, ‘what else are you guys doing here??’… The short answer is that we were making branded products for bands and brands, while running their web stores and shipping their products.

As of September 2017 we have closed the Church of Merch era and have put all of our focus on high quality production services. With this in mind, we have started PRINTD.

PRINTD.LA is going to exist along side POV, and will be taking care of design, development, and production services that fall outside of the realm of fine art and photo printing.

POV and the core staff on ‘this side of the studio’ will continue to focus entirely on the fine art aspect of what we do here.

With that being said, we’ve added a quick summary below of products and services that you may find useful!

Introducing Digital Fabric Printing @ POV

We have just finished testing our first range of fabrics for fine art printing. Our tests on Satin Silk and Chiffon have turned out beautifully and are now ready for production.

The available selection of fabrics for digital printing is well over 50 different types at this point, so if you are in need of some digital fabric printing the best bet will be to make a trip to our studio and check our our extensive set of samples. Our fine art fabrics generally come in rolls that are 17, 24, and 40 inches wide.

Pricing and additional info will be added to our quotes section soon, but in the mean time feel free to drop us a line and set up a time to come in to the studio.

Large Wall Graphics

By | Portfolio | No Comments

As of late we have been working on several large wall graphics for Chase Design Group out of Los Angeles. Here is one of the many renderings for the project:

Each wall is 18ft wide and 9ft high… we have sourced an amazing adhesive backed wallpaper material that is extremely easy to apply and is repositionable… this will allow for an easy install on each of these, which are broken into 6 vertical panels…

POVevolving & The Hammer Museum

By | News | No Comments

We’ve been assisting our talented friend Ed Glendinning with on-site color management and proofing for a Hammer Museum catalog shoot. We are working on a fully color managed workflow that starts with a Phase One camera tethered to a Macbook Pro with an Eizo external monitor… We are bringing each image into Capture One, working a little magic and then shooting the files over ethernet cable to a 27″ Imac that is connected to our Epson 3880, where we are then creating color match proofs with the original art next to us to match to…

Its quite a nice workflow. The Printer that is receiving the files for the catalog on the other side of the world is more than happy to have the confidence of knowing that the files and corresponding proof prints are not only professionally shot at super high resolution, but are corrected to the original piece and can be used to more easily create an accurate catalog…

Good times.

Doze Green Prints

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Just finished up some large prints for Doze Green. In a few short but busy days, we arranged to have his painting (Siddartha) photographed in a Chelsea gallery with a 22mp Hassleblad – shot in 3 pieces… then had the files transferred to us in Los Angeles… we stitched the image back together, color corrected, did epic amounts of proofing and produced 4 beatifully vibrant 30″ x 45″ prints on 250gsm Museo Max paper….

Super quick turn with great results… good times.

Sonny Kay @ POVevolving

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Yosuke Ueno Prints

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

We are working with Japanese artist Yosuke Ueno to release a very unique edition of prints based on a painting titled Sorazora. The edition, with the initial stages of the project underway, will be produced here at the POVprint Studio. We are going to create 15 prints of his Sorazora piece to be sent to Ueno… he’s then going to work back into each of the prints ~ with a combination of paint, inks, pencils and collage elements…

In talking with Yosuke, we get the idea that he plans to pull many of the individual symbols and characters from his other works and put one, a couple, or who knows, maybe all of them into this super unique edition… Here’s some potential candidates:

In the end, each of the 15 prints in the edition will be completely different. They will all be signed and numbered and sent back across the pond to us here in LA… where we will have each of them framed and prepped for release!

Good times at the POV.

If interested in being the first to see what we get back from Yosuke, drop us a line at info(at)… these are gonna be gooood for sure.

The Mars Volta and RX Bandits ~ Custom Slipmats

We have decided to take advantage of the incredibly easy-to-update nature of our new site and will be periodically posting little mentions of some of the projects we are working on…

We were contacted by artist Sonny Kay who did the album cover for the upcoming RX Bandits record… Sargent House, the label, wanted custom printed turntable slipmats.

They decided to also do slipmats for the upcoming album from The Mars Volta.

These are the images that were used:

The Mars Volta Slipmats are available for purchase here.
